Asthma

I was feeling really run down, and catching every bug that was going around so I reluctantly went to the Dr. (My boss Rebecca, who is also a nurse made the appointment for me. I figured if she was that worried, I better go.) The doc told me that I have asthma. He says I was using all my energy to breathe out. My oxygen sats are fine, but I was using my diaphragm to breathe out, when normal peoples lungs push the air out by themselves. Since all my energy was used to breathe, I would get run down, and my immune system would suffer, and that is why I kept getting sick. This little tid bit of information would have been nice to know about 11 years ago when I missed a ton of Jr. year in High School, but everything happens for a reason. Now I am on an inhaler twice a day, and I have an emergency one. It's amazing what a difference it makes. My energy is slowly building up, and the funny thing is, that I stopped snoring at night, which makes Michael really happy.

Book Club!

My new sister-in-law Heather who is married to Mike's brother Paul, decided that we needed a book club. So far we only have 4 members but we still had a blast at our first meeting on June 2nd.
We all picked a different book to read. Our theme was "Newberry Medal Winners". I picked 'The Tale of Despereaux' by Kate DeCamillo that I had read when it first came out in 2003. It's a great book, if you haven't read it, you should. Heather picked 'The Witch of Blackbird Pond', Pauline picked 'Hattie Big Sky', and Monica picked "The Graveyard Book", which is this years winner. Poor Monica is the only 50 something with three 20 somethings, but we are all kindred spirits so we get along fine. We met in the park, had yummy snacks, discussed our books, and had a great time. I can't wait till our next meeting. We are all reading 'The Scarlet Pimpernel'. I'll post a picture when Heather sends it to me.

6 Years of Marriage

I can hardly believe that Michael and I have been married 6 years! We had our 6th anniversary on May 31st. We celebrated on Saturday by going antiquing to the local shops. He let me buy a collection of Little Golden Books, and a Disney "The Rescuers" LP.

He also bought me some Oakley sunglasses when he was in Tempe the day before as an incentive for me to go to the eye Dr. and get some contacts. He knows I'm stubborn about going to any type of Dr. I made him a special dinner of Veal & Shrimp on linguine topped with a garlic lime butter sauce, which he enjoyed immensely.

I still can't believe that I got lucky enough to marry my sweetheart. He is the best husband in the whole world. I couldn't have hand picked a better one.

Enjoy the ol' wedding pictures!

Muffy

This is Miss Muffett Skousen. If you ask Michael, her name is Princess Muffett Skousen, but I digress. We call her Muffy for short. As you can see she comes with an FBI Warning...

Muffy is a wire-haired Jack Russell Terrier. For those of you who watched the TV show "Frasier" she's that kind of dog. She is 3 and a half, and the light of our lives. Muffy likes to watch Food Network all day and then take "walkies" with me after I get home from work. She is way too smart for her own good.

We frequently have to spell words around her as she knows what most words mean. For example: Walk, go, car ride, dog park, treat, peanut butter cookie, bed, Beneful, raw hide, ice cream (no we do not feed our dog real ice cream, it is dog ice cream made by Purina) and many other phrases that she recognizes.

Muffy keeps us on our toes and lets us know when it is time for bed, time to get up, and time to go outside. She is very, very spoiled and has her own stocking hung up and filled for Christmas. Just look as that face, how can you not spoil her?

Under Construction

So I have finally decided to start a blog. It is still under construction, as I am at work, piddling on the computer instead of doing my work. Therefore, the rest i.e. pictures, life update, etc.; can wait until a more suitable time when I am at home in front of my computer. So give me a few days and my blog will look more normal.
